Sleep Well & Awake Refreshed

After their first few hypnotherapy sessions, clients often report having a ‘good night’s sleep for the first time in’ weeks, months, or even years. What they typically mean is that they fell asleep easily, slept through the night, and woke up in the morning feeling alert and refreshed.

Most adults have had a sleepless night or ‘didn’t sleep well last night’ experience at one time or another. This experience can be simply a passing annoyance. However, for some people frequent or chronic insomnia can be a debilitating problem with significant mental and physical health implications.

Insomnia is generally defined as difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep long enough to feel refreshed the next morning. Common symptoms of insomnia fall into three categories:

  • Difficulty getting to sleep

    • Taking a long time to fall asleep after first going to bed

  • Difficulty staying asleep

    • Waking up several times during the night

    • Being awake for long periods at night

    •  Waking up very early and being unable to get back to sleep

  • Waking up unrefreshed

    • Feeling tired and groggy

    • Feeling irritable

    • Finding it difficult to concentrate or function properly

Lack of sleep can lead to poor concentration and coordination, increased stress, more forgetfulness, lowered libido, and more. It can also increase your risk of viral infections, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

To avoid the harmful consequences that prolonged, repeated episodes of insomnia can cause, it is important and valuable to gain new skills that can empower you to sleep well and wake up refreshed in the morning.

Hypnotherapy can help. We start by developing an evening ritual. What makes you feel relaxed and restful? I usually suggest cutting out violent television and the news close to bedtimeWatching a comedy or reading are good activities for just before bed. It’s important to stick to a ritual so that your mind and body become accustomed to knowing that it is bedtime. Disruption of an effectively established bedtime routine can be a major factor in insomnia.

In hypnotherapy sessions, you are guided to enter a deep state of relaxation where your subconscious mind is best able to rehearse and learn how to drift off to sleep quickly and easily at your regular bedtime. You will learn how to anchor the calm and relaxed feeling that you feel in hypnosis to a physical trigger that you can use whenever you need to get back to sleep. You will get a customized recording that includes your personal affirmations for regular healthy sleep. You can listen as needed to support you in getting to sleep at bedtime.

You will also receive your own copy of my book and journal, The Power In Affirmations. Clients use this as part of their daily practice to reinforce their personal sleep affirmations and track progress toward their goals.

Hypnotherapy can help you to sleep well, awaken refreshed and make the positive changes you desire.
