Improve Athletic Performance
“It’s not the will to win that matters — everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.”
Paul “Bear” Bryant, Head Football Coach University of Alabama
We all want to win. No one is trying to lose or even happy to lose. When people say “it’s how you play the game,” they quit a long time before that. Preparing to win is more difficult than wanting to win. Preparing to win starts in the mind and the heart and then it proceeds into the training room and the practice field and then into the competition.
I have worked with athletes of various ages in a wide variety of sports, from a 10-year-old baseball player to a 62-year-old amateur tennis player (and everything in between). What do these athletes all have in common? Their physical skills are great but there was something keeping them from performing at their best. That something was their mental attitude.
Mary Lou Retton, Olympic gymnast, said, “I see myself hitting all my routines, doing everything perfectly. I imagine all the moves and go through them with the image in my mind.” Hypnotherapy can help you think and train like Mary Lou Retton.
Whether you play an individual sport, a team sport, or are an amateur athlete, mental training and visualization can make a tremendous difference in your sports performance. Preparing for and practicing your sport mentally is as important as practicing your sport physically. Hypnotherapy can help you perform at your best both physically and mentally.
Whether you are a student beginner, a skilled amateur, or a professional, whether you play an individual or team sport, there is more to achieving excellence in your sport than the physical. The key to your success is the way in which you use your subconscious mind.
A college football player preparing for combine after surgery said, “In my first session after my hypnotherapy session, my trainer asked what I had done since yesterday’s training to make such a difference in my speed. I had gone to see Cinda. It made all the difference.”
A senior casual tennis player wanted to become more competitive at his club. After a few sessions, his comment was, “I feel so much better able to play with serious players – my affirmations really worked!”
Working with a professional hypnotherapist can help you to overcome problems in learning your sport, focus your mind when you compete and achieve your full athletic potential each time.
Hypnotherapy can help. By changing your visualization, you can “adjust” your mental attitude so that your excellent physical ability translates into winning. Hypnotherapy can help you visualize winning, visualize the time you want, the score you want, the outcome you want.
Many pro athletes have used hypnotherapy in their training including Tiger Woods, Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan, and Phil Jackson when he was coaching the LA Lakers.
